Elmwood man drives through field, fences TRIVOLI – An Elmwood man allegedly drove an automobile through a field, through tall bushes and under two barbed-wire fences. He is also accused of rear-ending a parked vehicle, according to authorities. Rashann Grier-Bain was implicated in the incident, which happened about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 18 in the 18200 block of W. By NICK VLAHOS For The Weekly Post BRIMFIELD – Count Scott Carlson among those guys for whom retirement didn’t entirely take. About 17 months after what appeared to be his final game as Brimfield High School boys basketball coach, Carlson is in line to return. During its meeting Wednesday night, convened after The Weekly Post deadline, the Brimfield School Board was to consider Carlson’s comeback attempt. According to Board President Steve Updyke, no opposition was expected. That isn’t a surprise, given Carlson coached 495 victories in 700 games over 24 seasons at Brimfield, including a Class 1A state championship in 2015….

Dec. 10 deadline set for Toulon sewer lift station By JOHN A. BALLENTINE For The Prairie News TOULON – After nearly a year of delays, Toulon’s lift station project is scheduled to begin construction this week. The project was originally scheduled to have been completed early last spring, but now with a time extension, contractor Stark Excavating faces a Dec. 10 completion date. Galva concert organizer John Taylor honored By CAROL TOWNSEND For The Prairie News GALVA – Mayor Rich Volkert presented John Taylor a Key to the City of Galva Sunday night at Wiley Park at the final Levitt Amp Series concert for 2022. Taylor wrote a grant several years ago and made the concerts possible, along with the Galva Arts Council. One community member stated that Taylor has make a “lifetime impact on the Galva area.” The concerts are held May through August and some weeks over 1,000 people attend. Peoria man arrested at gunpoint in Edwards
By NICK VLAHOS For The Weekly Post EDWARDS – A Peoria man was arrested at gunpoint after he drove erratically on a road near Edwards. A syringe and an illicit drug were found in his vehicle. Ethan C. Ghantous, 27, was stopped shortly after 8 p.m. July 26 in the 7900 block of W. Illinois Route 8, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Earlier, another motorist reported the car Ghantous was driving, a 2014 Chevrolet sedan, had struck a deer.
